10 tips to revive your wardrobe

Another day, another impossibly stylish outfit to create. Key word being “impossibly”. You’re standing in a towel with wet hair, blankly staring at your wardrobe, which is literally bursting at the seams. To your left, a set of draws houses all your folded wares – from those light wash boyfriend jeans, to those cute floral shorts that were on sale that you couldn’t resist. But for some unknown reason men will never understand, you have nothing to wear. YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO WEAR!

Every three months I start to despise my wardrobe and everything in it. Do you feel the same? I know, we are truly suffering from ‘first world problems’-itis. To cure our problem, I’ve come up with 10 things to do when you hate your clothes.

Take some time this weekend to do the following, and watch the compliments fly in about your new wardrobe ;) . Let’s go!

1. SORT YOUR CLOTHES into “YES”, “NO” and “MAYBE” piles. Immediately place the “YES” back in your wardrobe, the “NO” in a bag to send to charity and the “MAYBE” to the side.

2. CONSIDER ALTERATIONS. Try each piece in your “MAYBE” pile – could you remove the sleeves, shorten the hem, dye the fabric or cut it into a scarf to make it new? If you’re not confident doing it yourself, head to Looksmart Alterations for advice.

3. GET REACQUAINTED WITH YOUR JEWELLERY BOX. Which pieces of clothing to do each of your jewels suit best? Hang them directly over the hanger to make dressing easy and aim to wear 2 or 3 pieces of jewellery every day.

4. FILL IN THE GAPS. Have you got clothes you’ve never worn? What’s missing from your wardrobe to make them outfits?
