It’s all well and good for me to come on here and blog about trends and in-season colours and tips on how to best show off our bodies. But sometimes we just feel like throwing on a jumper and a pair of leggings, goddamit! And not even a great-fitting pair of jeans or a dress that hugs us in all the right places is gonna stop us! So, when you’re just having “one of those days”, make friends with a chunky knit. Just make sure it’s a stylish one.
1. If you’re wearing a chunky knit, keep your bottom half fitted with leggings, straight or skinny jeans or slim-fit pants. If you wear baggy bottoms, your shape may resemble that of a refrigerator.
2. Panelling is your friend! If you’re concerned about the bulk of a chunky knit, look for vertical panels, lines and shapes to make you look taller and thinner (and who doesn’t want that?!) Fabric that pulls in around your waist or the small of your back will also give you more shape.
3. If you’re big-busted or worried about your tummy, go for a thinner fabric like a merino wool, rather than something heavy like a cable knit.
