Sarah is the winner of my guest blogger competition after being voted in by the Westfield Facebook and blog fans. She’s heading off to her high school reunion soon and took us shopping with her as she searched for the perfect outfit! -Alyce
Facebook is a wonderful tool for keeping in touch with friends overseas and ensuring everyone you have ever met is invited to your birthday party (or hears about what you had for dinner), but this year I have discovered it also serves a far more sinister purpose – ensuring no one forgets when your ten year high school reunion rolls around.
Where did a decade go? Have I achieved the things I thought I would? Have others? Did the teen queen go on to star in a soapie; the jock to play for Essendon? But more importantly – what am I going to wear to the reunion?!
Ten years ago, I’m not ashamed to admit, I was a little bit daggy. My closest girlfriends will regale you with tales of a pair of ‘happy pants’ I wore proudly to a casual clothes day, or a terry towelling tee shirt (in AQUA!) I donned for a birthday party. Oh, how the times have changed.
Whilst I am not quite the editor of Vogue, I do like to think my style has come a long way. I kinda hope the rest of the class of 2001 have evolved too – otherwise I might look slightly overdressed at the pub on a Saturday afternoon.
But no matter what our class secretary has planned for the high school reunion, I have a plan for every occasion. From dressed up to dressed down, a little trip around Westfield has all the bases covered. I won’t need to pretend I invented post-it notes this time around – I have far more ambitious plans. Editor of Vogue? Look out.
Need to impress that boy you had a crush on? Or maybe you are headed straight from work? Sussan has a simple solution for both. Not too dressy, not to casual, this dress/blazer combo can be flirty with flats or funked up with heels.
Sussan dress $99.95, Sussan blazer $129.95, Sussan belt $39.95, Sussan necklace $39.95, Sussan sunglasses $29.95, Sussan clutch $24.95 (sale), Novo ‘Zanda’ heels (not shown) $49.95
A little colour goes a long way and if you want to stand out from the crowd, a pop of pink is the way to go. While a playsuit might be considered risqué, if you’ve got it, flaunt it! This is a ten year reunion after all, and everyone is out to impress.
Dotti playsuit (belt included) $79.95, Dotti shoes $69.95
Black is a favourite in the wardrobes of girls the world over; it’s slimming, chic and glam. But don’t buy something that says ‘funeral’ – look for points of difference that set your dress aside. Different fabrics, pleats, cute pockets or a bow go a long way in making your look go from drab to fab!
Sportsgirl dress $99.95, Sportsgirl bag $29.95, Sportsgirl pumps $89.95 (sale)
Of course, the key to any good outfit is accessories and the easiest way to spice up something plain is to add a bit of wow. Be it sky high heels, some sparkle or a statement bag, be noticed by the ones who missed you at high school with sophisticated pieces that won’t break the bank (and they go with EVERYTHING!)
And just for fun, pick up something cute from Diva to relive your teenage years. Bet they have mood rings too.

Five minute make up by Napoleon Perdis

Are you serious about the Sportsgirl outfit? Unfortunately, you don’t quite have the right body shape or posture to pull off the sheer top/dress with bra showing through (usually reserved for smaller busted girls.)
The jumpsuit would look best if you stood up just a little bit straighter!
NONE, NONE, NONE
OUTFIT 1. Its on a Saturday at a pub – so why are you turning up as though you were at a corporate job. You look like an idiot! & you look like a try hard.
OUTFIT 2. That apricot colour playsuit makes you look ill. & is the reunion in the northern hemisphere? Have you no sense for the temperatures in winter in Australia? In fact, have you no sense of how to dress?
OUTFIT 3. The skirt part of the dress is OK. That top makes you look like a street walker & that bra – sweetie, I suggest a minimiser bra (which is hidden) – because the horizontal lines on that bra just make you look wider than you are.
Truth be told, most of the makeovers done by Westfield look more amazing due to the hairstyles rather than the clothes….so why is this girl been left to do her own hair – rats tails, birds nest…c’mon Westfield…if you do Alyce’s hair, the least you can do is this girls hair (& some make up, but none of that bright lipstick they can see on the next planet you did last time) so she does look so yuck….
Uh….I think you should get Alyce to take you shopping. None quite work sorry.
Ouch Harsh much?
Outfit one is my fav. If it’s cool perhaps with a jegging?
I’m not a fan of jumpsuits.Sorry
Outfit three would work if you had a cami underneath. See through blouses and bras are for the under 20′s.
Have fun at your reunion.
Your boobs look droopy in the playsuit. Agree that you need a better bra & a minimiser would be a good ides…& if you are full figured, I’d be avoiding “pleats, pockets, a bows” as they will make you look even fuller….
Sarah, after Alyce’s recent Supre disaster, i wouldnt be going shopping with her…just try again hun….
What on earth is that metal “H” hanging off the chain on the bag?
Is that some lame attempt at a copy of a Hermes bag?
oh dear…
Poor Sarah…these girls are so harsh…
If reunion is at a pub Sarah I would go for some nice dark denim jeans and a top…heels and a leather jacket…spice it up with a colourful clutch and some cute accessories and you will look fab… hope you have fun that is the main thingxx
MAYBE SHE WAS SET UP TO FAIL????
no supervision, no assistance, seems sus to me….
Sorry, I don’t like any of them.
Personally, I love the 1st outfit and WOULD wear that out! it’s casual, but not too casual.
Some of the comments on here are just uncalled for, constructive criticism yes, but there’s no need to be nasty!!
Exactly Evelyn…mean girls on here…
Seriously, what a bunch of nasty, negative, rude and inconsiderate women commenting on this guest post. Obviously you have nothing better to do than make insults from the comforts (and anonymity) of your computers. Congrats Sarah on being voted in by the Westfield Facebook and blog fans and well done on a great post.. I’d go with outfit no. 1, Sally xx
I voted 1 as it looks great on you & suits your body & colour the best =)
Hope it goes well.
Some helpful suggestions to help your blogging, I am not being rude like some of the other post. Take what ever advice you like and use it but don’t take the comments to heart. some one will always have hurtful things to say.
*To make your pictures look better can you use a camera that is focus?
*Get a friend to do some light make up & hair just for fun too =)
* Smile, you look so happy in the 1st one but sad in the last.
You are a beautiful chick & it is your time to shine.
Keep smiling & have fun.
Outfit 1 ~ Well said Dame! Winning photos always shine when we Smile! Rock the Reunion,,,Sarah !
I am astounded at the number of nasty comments on this post. Where on earth is the sisterhood?! I happen to know Sarah personally, and she is a beautiful woman. If you don’t like her outfits, why not suggest something else, rather than being so nasty? I can’t see the need to leave such horrible comments. Sarah darling, anything you wear will be inconsequential, as your beautiful and fabulous personality will shine through. That being said, I like outfit number 1, but the colours of outfit 2. xx
I don’t think anyone is being nasty. If you put yourself on the net and ask for feedback – that’s what you’ll get.
Wouldn’t you rather be told something looks terrible, rather than being told fake compliments?
lay off people…social media can be anonymous. or it can be used to flog your business to death…either way can work. frankly i dont care if you have nothing better to do – this forum is all about comments – comments can be negative or positive. this isnt like school or work where the comments need to be constructive! & frankly, i would rather know about the spinach in my teeth!
I personally loved your blog Sarah! You showed us three completely different outfits for different styles, and you did a great job writing it. I’m going to vote for outfit 1 from Sussan – you’d be able to wear this to a few different settings, and I think a blazer over a dress is a no-fail combo! Well done
I love the first outfit — that would be really appropriate – the blazer is lovely and very on trend. You’d even look nice with a good pair of jeans and that blazer. Well done.
I must say, I’m not a fan of playsuits on curvier girls (I’m a curvy girl too!), I don’t think they flatter us. I also think your sportsgirl outfit was nice, except perhaps a bit too nightclub-ish and I think a singlet underneath would do you some good… but you’ve done a great job and you’ll definitely be fabulous for your reunion!

What outfit should I wear to my school reunion?
That was the question. For which the answer should have been 1, 2 or 3. Instead this poor girl, who was brave enough to put herself on show for all to see, was subject to some hideous comments, from people I assume must be super-flawless-humans!
Can’t we all just play nice and be supportive of our fellow sisters?
I think you are gorgeous Sarah, and you writing is supurb! Isn’t that what you won the competition for in the first place??!!
Well done for being bold enough to go shopping (on your own!) with a camera, I get awkward just taking outfit photos in my driveway! You’ve put together some cute & very Westfield-blogger appropriate outfits. I love the skirt & heels from outfit 3 on you. I’d pair that with a tshirt, bright necklace & a casual clutch, perfect for afternoon drinks that might lead somewhere later
Firstly, congratulations Sarah on your win in the Westfield Blogger Competition! You should be really really proud of yourself, give yourself a big pat on the back
xxx
Secondly, to put yourself out there in the public eye is HUGE… a big and often scary step that many people would not be able to bring themselves to do. (Can’t help but think maybe some of the above nasty comments stem from jealousy?)
I’d just like to add that if you can’t say something nice, then don’t say anything at all. As women, it is so important for us to all be supportive of one another.
Sarah, I like the Sussan combo best. Also, this could be another idea: – My ‘fail safe’ outfit (which I can adapt to suit most occasions) consists of a great pair of fitted dark jeans, patent leather heels, cute cami with a fitted jacket. Finish with a cute bag, & your fave jewellery & a killer smile!
p.s Be sure to take your business card with you, I have a feeling some of those cute boys from high school will be wanting your number…
Love number 1 for you Sarah! Stylish, sophisticated, classic yet still contemporary. Not something you will look back on in another 10 years & regret. & just wanted to add, I ALWAYS prefer to be over-dressed then under-dressed!
I bet most of the negative comments on here are coming from people who don’t have the first clue about style or fashion, but they still find themselves able to rip apart and critique other people.
I like all Sarahs outfits, I would go with 1 or 2.
P.s the article that you wrote is so well written Sarah. Congratulations.
Combo number 1 – I love the colour combination and the blazer is gorgeous. A fabulous article, I hope to see more from you.
Outfit number one! You look gorgeous and I’m upset by the horrible comments written here by obviously very unkind people.
Don’t take to heart their opinions.
xx
It never ceases to amaze me how catty the female race can be. You would think after hundreds of years of evolution that we could learn to grow and respect other people’s achievements. There is a very big difference between so called “constructive criticism” as opposed to just being plain nasty. Jealous much? You “unknown faces” of the internet should go to the naughty corner and hang your head in shame. If you have something negative to say, then that is your prerogative, but surely you could learn to be respectful and have some decorum in how and what you say. Gorgeous girl, number 1 is definitely the outfit for you. I think this looks like the outfit you were least uncomfortable in and it’s probably the most appropriate style for your function and venue. Well written article too. This is clearly an outstanding skill you posses. Ignore the haters hun, you’re simply beautiful inside and out, regardless of the verbal diarrhea of others.
I am a BIG believer in the old saying ‘if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.’
) I think outfit number one looks FABULOUS!!! Plus you look happy in it.
Miss Sarah
People should be reminded, karma will come back to you.
Hi Sarah,
I like the first outfit best, however as the reunion is at a pub I am inclined to agree with Karen McCann as it is a pretty cold winter this year.
Sarah and Alyce, I wouldn’t take much notice of the nasty words from some of the bloggers, I only have one piece of advice for them, it’s nice to be important, but much more important to be nice, so if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.
Have a great night at your reunion Sarah.
why would westfield keep these comments up ? and sarah you poor girl for having a photo put in you never really liked, i just read your personal blog and read these comments which are disgusting, especially ditas comment which was unwanted and truly a reflection of her ugly personality.
as for the way sarah looks, im sure she is like most girls her age who go shopping and wear whats comfortable, also nothing worse than getting makeup on new clothes especially when you are trying on alot of clothes , im sure sarah was nervous. westfield should take this down because of what people are writing. sarah u did a good job with what u had, and i would be proud of what you did, id kill for your legs
dont be ashamed or upset, these people who are negative are upset, if they think they could do a better job maybe they should have entered the competetion.
simple rules, if u have nothing nice to say dont say it at all! and stop being a keyboard warrior, i doubt you would say it to her face. mean is ugly! so sarah hold your head high;)
I think the best looking outfit is the 1st one, you seem more comfortable in it. I also can’t believe how catty some people get. Would you say the same things you have said to her here if you were face to face? I think not, and if you did your are just a cruel person who must thrive of putting other people down to make yourself feel better.
Outfit one is the best, it looks gorgeous. The other 2, i don’t like. Good job though.
Ignore the nasty comments from these girls they either envy you or think they’re a million times better, which they obviously are not. You had the confidence to go out and do it, go you!
You are beautiful, so bloody what if a dress looks unflattering. Not every dress is going to look flattering on every girl.
Isn’t fashion supposed to be FUN? Geez, when did things have to get so heavy. Well done on getting together 3 very different looks. I’m going for Sportsgirl 3, with a cammie underneath, a statement necklace, a big gorgeous smile and your locks glossy and flowing.
outfit one!!!! Classy fun and a little sophisticated. Mix it with a red lip or nail and super high heels, maybe a cute little black suede bootie.
outfit two and three are a tad too young for someone our age (although in saying that one of my fave items is the sheer black shirt with black leggings and a cream blazer over it)
Wow!! some girls really do have jealousy issues and really havent grown up at all if all they can be is disrespectful! get a life girls! i would love for you to put a picture of yourself on here – but thats the thing you wouldnt, would love to see how you feel if someone said such nasty things to you!!
Sarsh i think go with option 1 maybe with some leggings, but all in all you look great:)
and honestly dont listen to people that can only be rude because at the end of the day the only its only themselves that have a problem!!
Have a great time:)
You’ve done an awesome job Sarah – I love outfit number one.
Have fun at your reunion xx
Wow – could the ladies leaving nasty comments please return to highschool? Women have a hard enough time in this world without other women picking on them! Did your mothers never teach you – if you have nothing nice to say then please don’t say anything at all…?
Sarah please don’t listen to them. I like outfit 1. It’s classy and effortless, have fun lovely! I’m sure it’ll be a ball catching up with all your old classmates xo
Sarah,
As far as I’m concerned fashion consistently leads women astray. So much of what’s “on trend” fails to translate to the everyday woman. In fact, it just looks silly. “Fashionable” doesn’t justify an unflattering outfit. My rule is to always wear what suits your body, your sense of style, and most importantly – makes you feel good! Personally I wouldn’t pick any of the looks for you – Although 1 is nice, 2 & 3 are super unflattering – I think you deserve better! I agree with previous posts – a pair of well fitted dark jeans, a nice top, a tailored blazer, and some cute heels and you’ll look fabulous! Good luck!
Outfit 1 looks great! I would buy it but NOT from westfields, i will source it elsewhere. For a company to condone the negative/catty comments by setting this up is a infringement of it’s duty of care.
Westfields you are very lucky that this woman handled it the way she did. Can you think for just one moment what effect this could have had on a young lady that did not have thick skin…..you all should be ashamed of yourselves.
I am 100% certain Westfield planted those ‘nasty’ comments to drum up interest/media attention. Woo Westfield.
I like the first outfit but wouldn’t wear any of these to a reunion. I think you did well with what you were given Sarah.
A lot of the comments on this post are so nasty I really think you all need to get a life. I’m not even going to bother coming back to this site so don’t bother replying. So disapointed. I love fashion. I’m no good at it which is why these blogs normally interest me. If I wanted to read these kinds of attitudes I’d go back to school or into politics!!
Bah – the “negative” comments aren’t that bad. The ones I read did offer constructive criticism (waer a minimiser bra or cammie, doesn’t suit your shape, etc). All good and relevant feedback. Just like if I went shopping with my girlfriends – they’d say the same kind of thing and I would appreciate them tell me if I looked silly.
I personally didn’t like any of the outfits – way too cold to wear a dress at the mo, so can’t imagine you’d be comfortable. But outfit 1 looked the nicest of the choices there.
You look absolutely amazing and I hope it went well!!!
The disparaging comments from the people below show a worrying, insecure and harmful trend amongst women that needs to stop. And we wonder why so many of us face daily body image issues? First the media feeds us impossible standards of beauty to aspire to and now our own common woman supports this? It’s simply disgusting.
Unite as one to compliment each other, appreciate each other – we are all so beautiful and unique and Sarah is so wonderfully blessed with her gift of writing and her confidence to show the world what she is made of. Keep it up honey! xxx
It’s hard to find knowledgeable people on this topic, but you sound like you know what you’re talking about! Thanks

Strange but true. Your resource is expensive. At least it could be sold for good money on its auction!….
