The capsule wardrobe: Top 10 fashion items you need this winter

Picture this: it’s 7am, still dark, and really, really cold outside your bed. You slam the snooze button a few too many times and now you’re standing in a towel with a mere 15 minutes to get ready for work, thinking…WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU GOING TO WEAR TODAY?

Before you complain you have nothing to wear, ask yourself a few honest questions:

Do you need to use your whole body weight to push clothes out of the way?
Do you have 15 pairs of light wash jeans?
Do some of your clothes still have the swing tags attached?
Do you say things like, “Oh wow, I completely forgot I owned this old thing”?
Do your clothes hang up without a hanger, supported by the other clothes?

If you answered YES to any of the above questions, you’re suffering from a bad case of Clothes Addiction, which is not only affecting your credit card bill, but also your ability to put together a cute outfit. It’s just too overwhelming.

The key to getting your wardrobe back on track is to streamline. You need to go back to basics and start a “capsule wardrobe” – a small wardrobe of 24 items or less that you can live off for every occasion,  just by creating different combinations.

Sound impossible? If you don’t believe me, feel free to return to crying in your pile of clothes on the floor, but if you’d like to save money and dress perfectly for your body shape and personal style, check out my top 10 items to kick off your winter capsule wardrobe.

Great blog Alyce! I definitely agree that having a white shirt is a MUST for any woman, but my wardrobe must-have is the perfect pair of jeans! I don’t think I actually wear anything other than jeans come to think of it? They dress up and down so easily and go with anything in your wardrobe!

find another pair? NO! i can’t, and the
new coloured jeans? forget them, i know
there worn rolled up, but being skinny
jeans & tight around the ankle, harder
to roll! I am in a dilema, same goes for
shoes, im a ‘true 10′ sometimes uave to
buy an 11 hecause there all made in
china and too small. Im on a strict
budget, length in arms for long sleeve,
forget that too, EVERYTHINGS MADE IN

My wardrobe is a disgrace. I have alot of clothing but honestly have absolutely no concept of how to mix and match pieces. I loathe being invited out to dinners, functions etc… Because I don’t know what goes with what and have absolutely no confidence in throwing an outfit together. Even shopping I have money but nearly always come home empty handed because I’m too scared to make a decision on clothing items. Does anyone in the departments help out give advice on mixing and matching peices of clothing to come up with items? I seriously could do with some help!
